Tony Mirabelli, PhD.
Tony manages the hiring, training, and assignments of approximately 65 undergraduate tutors, 12 graduate tutors, 2 graduate assistants, and 4 support staff each year.
He works closely with and trains the staff who provide academic support to student athletes who have special academic needs.
Tony also is a lecturer and graduate adviser for the Cultural Studies of Sport in Education program in the Graduate School of Education (GSE). You can also view is GSE profile here.
Tony Mirabelli is a lecturer in the Graduate School of Education, and a graduate advisor for the Cultural Studies of Sport in Education program. He also is the Coordinator of the Tutorial Program for the Athletic Study Center, and an Academic Specialist who works closely with student athletes who have special academic needs. He earned his BA in Philosophy from the University of Illinois, Urbana, his MA in Anglo-American Literature from the University of London, University College, England, and while working at the University of California, Berkeley, he earned his PhD in Education in Language, Literacy and Culture. In 2003 he won the Chancellor’s Outstanding Staff Award in recognition of exemplary contributions to the University’s mission of teaching, research and public service.
