Q What goes on at the ASC Student-Athlete Orientation?
A For student athletes, the orientation will provide a broad overview of academic requirements, clarify issues regarding eligibility and academic planning, introduce you to the ASC advisors and staff, and will be an opportunity for you to meet with your peers and to ask questions about Cal (Parents will attend sessions on student support services, academics, financial aid and health services).  During the orientation, advisors will assist you with course selection and guide you through the enrollment system.  Most importantly, by attending the June 1st orientation, you will be able to take advantage of early enrollment for student athletes and sign up for classes before the rest of the incoming freshman class.

Q How do I register and what is the cost?
A To register for the orientation, please fill out, e-mail and print the ASC Orientation Reply Form and mail it with payment ($90 per person attending; for example, the cost for a student and two parents to attend the orientation would be $270) by Friday, May 23rd, 2008.

Q My high school prom is on May 31st, and I can’t attend the freshman orientation. Do I have any other options?
A If you are absolutely unable to attend the ASC Orientation on June 1st, you should attend the CalSo orientation on June 16–17th that will cover specific information regarding student athlete issues.  Please make every effort possible to attend the ASC Orientation.

Q What do I do after registering?
A The most important thing you can do is prepare yourself for the information that will be covered during the orientation.  Please review our Orientation Preparation page.  In looking at this information, please be advised that you must complete the academic orienteering tutorial that is provided by the College of Letters and Science.  This tutorial will help you in understanding requirements and help you put together a mock schedule that you can bring to our orientation for review and modification.

Q If I miss the registration deadline, can I still attend the orientation?
A Yes, you can still attend.  However, space availability may be limited and if the orientation has no more space available, you can be turned away at the door.  You would need to show up the morning of the orientation and go to the "same day" registration table.  The cost of same-day registration is $100 per person.  Payment for same-day registration would be either with cash or check.  We do not accept credit cards on the day of the orientation.  Checks should be made payable to UC Regents.
