Individual Tutoring
The ASC provides one-on-one tutoring for college writing, introductory composition and foreign languages. We recommend that these students, particularly those enrolled in college writing, request a one-on-one tutor. Students can request a tutor from the ASC website. Please be sure to leave updated contact information, especially the email account and phone number that you use and check regularly.
Once you receive your tutor information from us via email, do not wait for the tutor to contact you. It is your responsibility to contact your tutor. Failure to do so in a timely manner may result in your loss of this privilege. Furthermore, tutors cannot be reserved on a "layaway" plan. If you request a tutor, it is assumed that you will begin to meet promptly and regularly. Repeated absenteeism with your tutor may result in your loss of these privileges.
The ASC also offers individual tutoring in a limited capacity for other core lower division courses as well as a very limited number of upper division courses. We will do our best to provide students with the support they request, but in the event that we cannot, we recommend regularly attending professor office hours as well as GSI office hours. Research indicates that those students who do well in their course work are usually those students who regularly attend professor office hours.
