This page gives an overview of how to connect to the EduRoam wi-fi service.
You will use your Berkeley email address and a Google key to log into EduRoam.
Step 1: Get your Google Key/Password
You need to create a campus WiFi account, so on your device, use any available internet service and, in a browser, go to: wifi-keys.berkeley.edu
You will need to log in with your CalNet ID. Then [Manage Account] and [Create New]. If you already have an account, then click [Change Password]. In either case, it will generate a key/password for you. Copy it (as there is no way to look it up again) and then [Save] it.
Step 2: Connect to EduRoam
If you have used EduRoam before, but it is not working now, scroll down to Fix It.
Select EduRoam from the list of available wireless networks, use your Berkeley email and the Google Key to log in. Example:
Name: oski@berkeley.edu Password: 12345
You might get two more prompts:
Verify Certificate? Yes, accept the certificate.
Save credentials. Your computer might ask for a name and password to save this connection information. Note: this prompt is not a wifi function, it is your computer's operating system asking, so use the name and password that you use to log into your computer.
ChromeOS
If you have a Chromebook, then the Join Wi-Fi Network dialog will open and will require some or all of the following information:
- EAP Method: PEAP
- EAP Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
- Server CA Certificate: Do Not Validate
- Domain: berkeley.edu
- Identity: your Berkeley email (example: oski@berkeley.edu)
- Password: your Google Key
- Anonymous Identity: leave this blank
Fix It
Try the options below, based on your device. Any one of the techniques could help.
But first: Restart your device.
The one issue that is critical is using the correct Name and Password. The "name" to use is your berkeley.edu email address. The "password" to use is the one you created wifi-keys.berkeley.edu.
