Initial Eligibility

Academic Standards

To meet the minimum requirements to compete in Division I athletics, student athletes enrolling in college in August 2016 or later must:

  • Graduate from high school.
  • Complete 16 Core Courses, including 10 before your seventh semester:
    • Four years of English;
    • Three years of math (Algebra 1 or higher);
    • Two years of natural/physical science (including one year of lab);
    • One additional year of English, math or natural/physical science;
    • Two years of social science;
    • Four additional years of English, math, natural/physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy.
  • Earn a minimum 2.300 Grade-Point Average in core courses.
  • Earn a combined SAT or ACT score that matches your core-course GPA on the Division 1 sliding scale.

To meet initial-eligibility standards, prospective student athletes must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
