Academic Operations Specialist
As the Academic Operations Specialist, Ceara (they/she) plays a crucial role in coordinating and improving the day-to-day operations for the Athletic Study Center. They coordinate and evaluate a variety of operations related to organizing the academic advising and academic support services the ASC provides to UC Berkeley's student-athlete population. These operations include exam proctoring services, informational workshops for student-athletes, and annual departmental reporting and assessments.
Background
Ceara was a club student-athlete at Cal, competing with the women’s rugby team, while attaining a BA in Media Studies. After obtaining experience in the nonprofit sector, Ceara decided to return to UC Berkeley to chase her passion for working with athletes by pursuing a MA in Education with a concentration in the Cultural Studies of Sport in Education. Their capstone research explores the experiences of trans and nonbinary rugby players in competitive women’s rugby. Before taking on the new Academic Operations Specialist role, Ceara got to know the vibrant student-athlete population at Cal as an Academic Advising Intern for the ASC. Ceara continues to play competitive rugby with the Bay Area-based All Blues and loves going to concerts, reading, and overanalyzing reality TV shows in her free time.
